Savant has just announced their latest product, the Savant Touch Remote, which actually embeds an iPod Touch into a custom housing that adds 18 backlit hard buttons, better ergonomics and RF in addition to WiFi. Read more...

RTI will be exhibiting a number of new things at this year's CEDIA in Atlanta, including a SDK for dealers, RTiDock, a new eight-zone distributed audio matrix switcher, and other new hardware revealed at earlier trade shows but shipping soon. Read more...

Philips has revealed its first true in-wall Pronto display, the TSW9500. Compared to the existing (and larger) TSU9800 standalone model with its wall-mount option, or the TSU9600 that can be wall-mounted through the use of an optional dock, the TSW9500 has been purpose-designed to be an in-wall control panel. At CEDIA 2010 held next week in Atlanta, Georgia, URC will be making it clear why they no longer want to be known as “Universal Remote Control Inc.” While URC normally has a number of nifty new things at CEDIA to show off, this year the now more generically named tri-letter company will be introducing an impressively large slate of new products, including ones that definitely don’t qualify as universal remote controls. GreenPeak Technologies has added two new capabilities to their ZigBee RF4CE controller chips, all without impacting battery life. “Push messaging” allows for on-remote applications such as gaming, interactive voting, personal messages or real-time sports results, while the “find-me” button can help users locate their missing remotes.
