THE UNIFIER™ URC-100 UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL® MAKES HOME THEATER OPERATION SIMPLE, PACKED WITH EASY-TO-FOLLOW DVD

The Unifier™ offers advanced IR/RF remote control technology making "whole-house" control of A/V components for under $100.00. When paired with the Expander™ MRF-100 RF receiver, the Unifier can operate A/V components through walls, doors and cabinets, and can replace up to 8 different remote controls.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, January 9, 2004 – Underscoring its position as the innovation leader in entertainment system remote control design and manufacturing, Universal Remote Control, Inc., today introduced the Unifier universal and learning, programmable remote control system. The Unifier brings control of up to 8 individual A/V units into a single, user-friendly and affordable package that delivers performance and features usually found in expensive, complex remote systems.

As extraordinary as the Unifier is from a performance point of view, what is equally remarkable is the fact that the Unifier does all this and a lot more at a $100.00 manufacturer's suggested retail price. The Unifier is the entry-level model in a product range of three breakthrough new retail products from Universal Remote Control, including the Automator™ (URC-200) and the Customizer™ (URC-300), all of which can be coupled with the Expander MRF-100 RF base station receiver. The three units represent an entirely new market tier, between those systems costing hundreds of dollars and used with high-end home theater installations, and the sub-$25.00 remote control market.

The Unifier "unifies" the access control of as many as 8 audio and video entertainment system components including TV, Plasma TV, DVD players, A/V receivers, amplifiers and more, throughout the home or office, indoors or outdoors. The Unifier comes equipped with an internal library of over 1,000 pre-programmed codes to operate the wide range of entertainment devices on the market today and offers full control over more advanced home entertainment functions such as Video-On-Demand and Digital Video Recorders (DVRs).

Programming the Unifier is intuitive and the unit also comes with a DVD tutorial, so it's anything but intimidating for the users. The Unifier's unique DoubleTap Learning™ feature can accurately reproduce programming from any other remote with two simple key presses, or if needed, programming can be accomplished using the pre-programmed codes stored within Unifier's 1 Mbit memory library.

The Unifier IR range is up to 60 feet and the RF range is between 70 to 100 feet when used along with the optional MRF-100 RF base station. Commands are simultaneously transmitted via IR and RF signals to penetrate through walls, floors and reach out-of-sight equipment. When the Unifier is used with the MRF-100 - consumers do not need to "point and click"-they just "click"!

The Unifier also looks great, with an easily readable and customizable 1 1/4 x 3/8-inch LCD screen and its metallic finish was designed to fit in with the aesthetics of contemporary home theater and entertainment systems. All the buttons on the LCD screen and remote keypad are electro-florescent illuminated when the light button is pressed. Wear-resistant tactile GemStone buttons and a 5-way thumbpad for controlling menu-driven devices makes using the Unifier accessible to users of all ages.

THE AUTOMATOR™ URC-200 UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL®TAKES A NEW MARKET TO A NEW LEVEL

Using a combination of advanced IR/RF "through-the-walls" remote control technology, the new URC-200 remote control puts the entertainment systems of an entire house into one hand - the ultimate anchor product for increasingly complex home entertainment; The multi-screen Automator can replace up to 10 different remote control systems and greatly simplifies and enhances whole-house, home entertainment automation and control.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, January 9, 2004 – Universal Remote Control, Inc., the leader in remote control design and manufacturing for home and professional entertainment systems, today introduced the Automator (URC-200) universal and learning/programmable remote control system. The Automator can replace up to 10 home entertainment remote control units and when paired with the optional Expander™ MRF-100 RF base station receiver, it can do so for A/V equipment located anywhere in a house - through walls, doors and floors.

The Automator is the second of three new, highly functional, affordably-priced remote control systems unveiled at CES by Universal Remote Control, Inc. The Automator, along with the Unifier™ (URC-100) and Customizer™ (URC-300) remote control systems, bring high-end power to a significantly greater range of users by delivering professional-grade performance at a fraction of the cost. At a manufacturer's suggested list price of $150.00, the Automator performs more like a professional-grade remote control. Its well-lit and easy-to-read 7/8 x 1 7/8 inch LCD screen can be adjusted to increase or decrease contrast and duration of lighting.

URC-200 operation of up to 10 different components is made easy by using two scrollable screen pages, each with five device selections to choose from. Once a device has been selected, the user can choose from 34 hard buttons that can be dedicated to control component functions pre-programmed in the Automator's internal memory consisting of thousands of codes. The Automator also has learning capability so that complete and accurate reproduction of the original remote control codes can be applied to Automator button commands. In addition, the Automator can be easily "cloned" to a second Automator in less than two minutes so that a perfect copy of the original can be programmed and ready-to-go for use in a different location.

The Automator is part of Universal Remote Control's vision of how to handle increasingly complex and still-evolving universe of home entertainment options, from Plasma TV to DVD, from SACD to DVD-Audio to Video-On-Demand to cable to satellite TV. As these options become more complex, command and control needs to become more straightforward, user-friendly and flexible. The Automator does just that and is capable of being programmed to perform multiple A/V operation commands with the press of one button using macros. The Automator can execute an amazing 190 commands per programmable button, placing nearly 90,000 possible commands in the hands of home entertainment enthusiasts.

Used with Universal Remoter Control's new Expander MRF-100 RF base station receiver, commands sent via IR and RF signals can penetrate through walls, floors and reach out-of-sight equipment from up to 60 feet of controllable reach in IR mode and upwards of 100 feet in the RF mode.

Some of the important features of the Automator include: 8 LCD screens per device for adding or deleting pages to meet exact requirements, text editing on LCD screen, macro punch through and favorite channels. For users that desire complete "personalized" home automation, the Automator's LCD screen labels can be easily customized to suit the need of each individual for quick and easy identification of devices, functions and more. When it comes to personalizing the URC-200, consumers can take the guessing out of channel selection by programming and using the favorite channel settings for instant access to up to 40 of their most frequently watched TV, cable or satellite broadcasts. Because the Automator is equipped with a unique flash memory back-up system, controls will stay functional and retain all programming in memory for up to ten years, even with dead batteries.

This remote control will be aesthetically compatible with a wide range of home entertainment systems for years to come, thanks to its upscale ergonomic design, durable tactile GemStone buttons and 5-way thumbpad as well as its attractive metallic finish. All the buttons on the LCD screen and remote keypad are electro-florescent illuminated when the light button is pressed.

THE CUSTOMIZER™ URC-300 UNIVERSAL REMOTE IS THE FLAGSHIP OF THE NEXT GENERATION OF ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS CONTROL

Wins 2004 CES Innovations Awards for product design and engineering.

With its combination of advanced IR/RF "through-the-walls" remote control technology and a sophisticated LCD touch screen panel for control of up to 15 individual devices, the Customizer™ allows consumers to control their home entertainment system, not the other way around; The Customizer is the top-of-the-line in a new generation of remote entertainment systems control from the leader in the field.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, January 9, 2004 – Demonstrating its unique ability to provide the home entertainment marketplace with highly innovative remote controls at ever more accessible price points, Universal Remote Control®, Inc. today introduced the Customizer (URC-300), its flagship remote control in a new line that will significantly advance the market for retailers and consumers alike. The Customizer's remarkable capability to control up to 15 devices simultaneously puts its capacity on the same footing as professional-grade systems controllers used by large-scale systems designers and installers.

The Customizer is engineered to meet the needs of home entertainment enthusiasts who require top-tier performance to command their increasingly complex entertainment systems at a fraction of the cost of those professional devices. In fact, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $200.00, the Customizer helps create and define a new price/performance niche - one that will become increasingly important to the overall home theater electronics industry.

The Customizer universal and learning remote was designed for A/V enthusiasts who want to optimize all aspects of home theater operation for their own lifestyle needs. The Customizer's touch screen LCD panel is simple and user-friendly. Reflecting the trend towards larger personal residences, the Customizer uses both IR and RF signals, making whole-house operation (indoors and outdoors, through cabinets, walls and doors) possible by adding the optional Expander™ MRF-100 RF base station.

The Customizer can be programmed to execute macros incorporating hundreds of commands with the press of one button. This macro approach to managing complex systems has been applied before to control systems, but never in such an intuitive and easy-to-use manner. The large (1-3/8 x 1-7/8-inch) touch screen actually reduces the need for dedicated buttons, thus making the Customizer more flexible than any other remote on the market. Users can create their own labels that will appear on the LCD screen, add or delete a device name or page, dedicated to the device, etc. The significance of this kind of flexibility is that the Customizer can anticipate the needs of growing, more complex systems and be ready to accommodate them when users choose to make them part of their lifestyles. This year will see the advent of even more consumer electronics formats, each of which will need to be integrated into existing home entertainment setups. Industry analysts expect more "format churn" to occur as formats that use virtual content, such as MP3 players and system servers, begin to augment and ultimately replace older hardware formats such as audio cassette tapes and VHS. No matter how complex the consumer entertainment landscape becomes, the Customizer will be ready to handle it and make its users happy in the process.

The Customizer was designed and engineered for the proactive A/V enthusiast, a power user extremely interested in whole-house automation. Less experienced consumers have the ability to grow into the product as they gain more familiarity with its many features via the included DVD tutorial.

The Customizer's learning feature ensures totally accurate reproduction of the original remote control codes. All the buttons on the LCD screen and remote keypad are electro-florescent illuminated when the light button is pressed. Broadcast subscription and satellite customers will benefit from the product as they create up to 40 instant access favorite channel buttons in the remote control by programming and customizing the text for the most frequently watched channel numbers or other commands into these buttons. The Customizer caps Universal Remote Control's new line of next-generation remote control systems. It is truly a flagship, with features that are more common on systems costing hundreds of dollars more.

NEW EXPANDER™ MRF-100 RF BASE STATION FROM UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL® PROVIDES EASY, AFFORDABLE CONDUIT TO WHOLE-HOUSE A/V SYSTEM CONTROL

Wins CES Innovations Award for Outstanding Design and Engineering at 2004 Consumer Electronics Show.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, January 9, 2004 – Universal Remote Control today debuted The Expander™ (MRF-100) RF receiver, an award-winning base station that completes the most comprehensive, compelling new product line introduction in its history. The Expander receiver provides consumers with an affordable and innovative "whole-house" solution to home theater operation.

The Expander is Universal Remote Control's companion base station product for three new highly-functional, IR/RF equipped, remote controls: Unifier™, Automator™, and Customizer™. The combination of the Expander with one or more of these new remote control products enables consumers to set-up A/V equipment in out-of-sight locations such as cabinets, or in different rooms on different floors, while providing the same precise system control as if the system were placed along side the output devices.

The Expander is consistent with Universal Remote Control's other new line introductions in that it delivers custom installation performance priced at a $75 manufacturers' suggested retail price, more akin to the mass market. Because the MRF-100 is outfitted with Universal Remote Control's advanced IR/RF technology, the Expander receives RF (radio frequency) signals from a URC-100, URC-200 or URC-300 remote control, converts them to IR (infrared) commands and sends them to out-of-sight components via built-in front blasters.

The advantage to consumers is that they can add an extra dimension to their home entertainment experience by operating A/V equipment whether they are inside or outside their home. The Expander operates devices from up to 100' (without pointing) and is not impeded by walls, cabinetry, floors and ceilings. Easily installed and seamlessly operated, the Expander is accompanied with a DVD tutorial, power supply, and 6 flashers with 10' cables.
