Philips Pronto TSU2000 Features:
Touchscreen LCD: Provides a resolution of 240x320 with a total of four shades (white, light gray, dark gray and black). A contrast dial on the left top side of the unit allows adjustment of the screen to your preference; a manual backlight button just below can be used to turn the unit on without tapping the screen. The backlight can also be configured to activate at all times.
7 Direct Access Buttons: Each button can be assigned a global command that operates the same under all devices. Or, you can override a particular button for single components. For example, the volume control buttons can operate the Receiver's level under all devices except TV, where the TV's volume controls are active. The channel up/down, volume up/down and mute buttons have an independent backlight that can be enabled without affecting the LCD screen or its backlight.
Preprogrammed device database: The TSU2000 comes with a huge database preprogrammed codes covering hundreds of brands of devices right on the remote. The database used is from UEI, makers of the "One For All" line of remote controls. This feature is not included on the RC5000i.
Learn all your system components: The Pronto is designed to learn every device you have with 960KB of user space - that's 152% more memory than the original TS-1000! Your setup also won't be lost when batteries are out of the unit since memory is non-volatile.
Adjust the auto-off time: The Pronto includes no "off" button. Instead, you can adjust the amount of time before the LCD, LCD backlight or hard button backlight switches off, from one second to 4 minutes.
Unlimited number of devices: No more running out of device buttons before you run out of room on your shelf! The Pronto can handle any number of devices you want -- you're only limited by available memory. The default pre-programmed devices include: TV, VCR, Preamp, Tuner, CD, DBS, LD, DVD, Tape, CDR, Cable Box, Audio Processor, WebTV, Flat TV (HDTV), Home Controller, MD, PTVR (TiVo or ReplayTV) & AOL TV.
Devices are built using templates: The Pronto includes pre-set templates for all of the above devices. What this means is that you have a certain number of screens for each device, and that each screen has a specific function. For instance, there are 10 available screens for VCR. The first one controls tape functions (play, fast forward, pause, record, etc), the next one controls the tuner, followed by the Menu system, two screens of custom-labeled buttons, a screen with options for tracking and more, three more screens with custom buttons and a final screen with advanced tape controls, such as jog/shuttle, frame advance etc.
Copy and move devices: With the Pronto you can copy a device you have configured, complete with it's button arrangement and IR codes, or move devices on the "Device Menu" to an arrangement of your choice. There's also the ability to recover deleted devices and macro groups.
Custom label EVERY button: Every button in every device can have a custom label, entered via a miniature QWERTY keyboard. 192 characters are provided, covering numbers, upper and lower case keys, numerous icons and foreign characters.
Devices can have a command assigned to them: When you select any device from the menu, you can have the TSU2000 send out a signal or macro to turn that device on, or switch the receiver to the proper input. You can bypass this signal by holding down the left arrow button as you select the device.
Unlimited number of macros: You can create an unlimited number of Macro groups. Each group can have up 25 separate macros, with each macro containing up to 255 commands, limited only by available memory. Delays can be inserted up to 99.9 seconds long each.
Unlimited number of timers: The TSU2000 can be configured to run macros or single commands at any time of day on a daily or weekly basis. Timers are automatically activated whenever they have enough information to run. This feature is not available on the Marantz RC5000i.
Protect your setup: You can remove the "Mode Menu" icon from the bottom of the LCD, preventing any changes to your devices.
Flash upgradeable software: Using the serial port, owners can connect to their PC and, through ProntoEdit, flash upgrade the TSU2000 to the latest operating and application software.
Full-featured software: Included on a CD with the TSU2000 is ProntoEdit v2.0, a Windows-compatible software package that can be used to completely customize the user interface. Additional features include:
Custom bitmaps: ProntoEdit can load industry standard .BMP files in four grayshades, from 1 by 1 pixels in size, up to the maximum editable screen size of 240 by 219 pixels.
Edit layouts: ProntoEdit can be used to create any system layout you want, with a nearly unlimited number of devices, panels, buttons and other objects. All buttons can contain learned signals, macros or timers. Several font sizes are available for button labels. Free rein is provided!
Custom beep tones: can be used for any creative purpose. This feature is not provided on the RC500i.
Share configurations: ProntoEdit's .CCF files contain infrared codes, macros, bitmaps and layouts and can be easily shared amongst other users.
Software emulator: ProntoEmulator can be used to test your configuration on-screen - just as if you were using the real remote!
RC5000i features: Some features provided on the RC5000i but not the TSU2000 are multiple jumps in macros, panel jump history, custom scroll arrows, disabling of the Device and Macro menu buttons, plus editing of the lower hard buttons under the Macro menu.
