VIZIO, the brand best known for their economical LCD televisions, is branching out their product lineup into various other arenas including speakers, headphones, wall mounts and even “electronic cleaning foam”. But of interest to us today is the company’s new pair of universal remote controls – and one of them is a color touchscreen.
Although details are still sketchy, we can tell you that the
XTR100 sports a 3.5” LCD touchscreen display and can communicate directly with VIZIO’s special Via-enabled televisions utilizing RF-based Bluetooth (much like the PS3). It’s also compatible with regular infrared-based home theater devices, supports macros, is backlit with a motion pickup sensor, and has a rechargeable lithium ion battery and docking station. No word yet on pricing or availability.
The second – and as yet unphotographed – new remote is called the VUR9M, and would appear to be a basic hard buttoned model. It’s capable of controlling 4 devices, features a preprogrammed code library, IR code learning, plus backlit volume and number buttons. It will be available this coming March at an undisclosed price.
Two DACs, a delay module and extender kit highlight new offerings.
Features push-to-talk voice control of Amazon Alexa and Apple TV via Siri.
