Eager to learn more about the new Philips Pronto products coming up at the CEDIA 2005 Expo this week? So are we – but to tide you over we can now bring you this exclusive early preview!
TSU3500
First up is the Pronto NG TSU3500, an upgrade to the current black-and-white TSU3000. This update version features:
- New screen with better readability
- New buttons with better tactile feedback
- Updated “high end” design
- Faster USB communications (up to 4 times quicker)
- Better IR learning (more codes and improved accuracy)
- Updated software based on ProntoProEdit NG core with IR duration and MCE support
- Now includes rechargeable battery and docking station
TSU7500
The color TSU7500 has also been updated from the TSU7000 with the following features:
- 48mb memory
- Updated design
- New buttons with better tactile feedback
- Better IR learning (more codes and improved accuracy)
RFX6500
The RF extender has received a more significant overhaul and is now a 2-part unit with “Receiver” and “Blaster” modules. Features include:
- Adjustable antenna can be rotated to make the system more directional, or shortened to give shorter range but less interference in interference prone environments
- Greatly improved RF sensitivity (to -71dBm) enhances distance reception, while narrower frequency response rejects interference and improves range by up to 15 meters
- New LED indicates RF interference to assist in placement of the receiver module
- 4 IR blaster ports support split cables for 8 emitters; bundled cables now split at the beginning for full use of length
- Dip switches control the strength of the IR emitters in 4 steps, or even disable the main IR blaster
- Standard stereo audio cable connects between the receiver and blaster modules; 1 meter (3.3 feet) included in the package; can be extended up to 6 meters (20 feet)
The new models will see improved RF performance combined with the RFX6500, but are also backwards compatible with the existing RFX6000. Similarly, existing Pronto RF remotes will also be able to make use of the RFX6500’s improved performance.
