Se7en: Platinum Series | Location: | Dinner scene & End of movie |
Features: | Sound and movement | Description: | In the dinner scene, when the train goes by, it sounds like a train is driving right into your house. (I live near an air base and the first time I watched this, I paused the film at this point because I thought a plane was taking off!) At the very end of the film, right before the closing credits, when the helicopter is flying overhead the sound flows from the back right across to the front left - again, living near an air base, it sounds just like a real helicopter flying overhead.

Seabiscuit | Location: | Seabiscuit Vs War Admiral, The Race |
Features: | Sound, Story | Description: | The whole film builds to this moment - the small horse, Seabiscuit, taking on the famous War Admiral. The close up of the horses with the noise of the track and their hooves pounding combined with the whole culmination of emotion in the characters and story is a great film moment. If your looking for a demonstration to someone that's not into big-bang action or blood and guts action movies, this is it. Want to convince the wife that you really need that $50K home theater? -then take this clip to the store....

Signs | Location: | Whole movie |
Features: | great audio mixing | Description: | The audio in Signs is perfect. From the subtle wind in the field to the whispers of Joaquin to the footsteps of the alien out on the porch. Everything is very well done, especially the surround effects. Very believable, unlike some movies.

Six Days and Seven Nights | Location: | outdoor scenes, starting at the airport in Tahiti. |
Features: | excellent video quality (sound is so-so) | Description: | Regardless of what you thought of the flick, the island scenes will make you drool at all the pretty colors and the sharpness of the image. The close-ups of Anne Heche's face aren't bad either. :)
