Although the easiest way to program these remotes is through the setup menu, the following shortcuts are also supported.

Setup Menu [Commander Off] + [Muting] Easy setup of the RM-AV3000. Configures Preset Codes [Commander Off] + [Muting] Begin by selecting the [PRESET] option. Choose the component you would like to configure. Enter in the four-digit code number on the keypad corresponding to your brand and device. Press the [POWER] button to test the entered code, or [CLEAR] to start over. Press [ENTER] to save. To search through code numbers, alternate between pressing [CHANNEL UP/DOWN] and [POWER]. Once one is found, press [ENTER] to save. To change the type of component, merely enter in a new four-digit number. Component types are changed automatically with the code number. If the remote beeps five times and flashes “NG” the entered code number is not valid. To display the currently entered code number, press [DISPLAY]. Learns Infrared Codes [Commander Off] + [Component Select] or [Other] If you pressed [Other], begin by selecting the component you would like to customize. Then, select the key you want to teach a signal on. While “LEARN” is flashing, aim the source remote control at the front of the RM-AV3000 and hold the button down until the RM-AV3000 beeps once. As the remote is capturing the code, “LEARN” will stop flashing. To change the label of a “fixed” square, press and hold the component name at the top of the screen and repeatedly press the square you would like to change until the correct label is displayed. The remote will begin looking for an infrared signal to learn. Buttons cannot be relabelled if they already contain a learned signal, and cannot be customized for keys with preprogrammed codes. To learn a single signal to a Component Select button, hold [LEARN] at the top of the screen and press the Component Select button you would like to learn on. You cannot learn to a button that already contains a macro. To learn a single signal to a System Control button, press the desired System Control button. You cannot learn to a button that already contains a macro. To learn on [REC] + [PLAY] (RM-AV3000 only), press [REC] followed by [PLAY]. As “LEARN” flashes on-screen, those two buttons should be shown. If the remote beeps two times and flashes “NG” the button already contains a learned signal, alias or key macro and must first be reset – hold the [DEL] key at the top and press the button to reset. If the remote beeps five times and flashes “NG” the code did not capture correctly, try again. To hide buttons from view, press [DEL] and the button you want to hide. Repeat until it flashes every other time. Buttons that flash every time contain a preprogrammed signal. Buttons that are solid and do not flash contain a learned signal. To change a customizable button’s text, hold the button or component name for two seconds. To reset all learned and aliased buttons in a device, hold the [DEL] key and press the component name at the top of the screen. This will also reset preprogrammed buttons back to their original labels. Repeat the process to return the “MULTI” device back to its default aliases (until some buttons appear solid on screen). Program a micro-macro anywhere! Line up every remote with all the commands you need, then when learning quickly press all buttons in order. You should be able to learn a 3 or 4 step macro in this manner onto any button. Macro Programming [Commander Off] + [System Control] or [More] If you pressed [More], begin by selecting the System Control button you would like to record the macro on. Next, navigate the remote and enter up to 32 commands from any of the remote’s devices. When finished, press [COMMANDER OFF] to save. The remote will play your macro back visually. To assign a macro to a Component Select button, first enter this mode with the command above and then choose the component to assign the macro to via the [Component Select] or [Other] buttons. Begin recording the macro normally. To add a manual delay between steps press the [TIMER] button. This counts as a step. If the remote beeps two times and flashes “NG” the button already contains a macro or learned signal and must first be reset – hold the [DEL] key at the top of the screen and press the button to reset. Remember that System Control buttons [1] and [3] already have a default macro and must be cleared before recording one of your own. To record a System Control macro as a step in a Component Select macro, press the System Control button during recording. Note that System Control macros cannot reference Component Select macros or other System Control macros. To change a customizable button’s text, hold the System Control or Component Select button’s name for two seconds during macro recording. To set System Control buttons [1] and [3] back to their defaults, hold the [DEL] key at the top of the screen and press [A] or [C]. Repeat this procedure a second time. If the buttons still do not contain the default macros, clear them once more. Timer Programming [Commander Off] + [Timer] Begin by selecting the Timer button you would like to modify. To record a timer macro, press [SETUP] followed by [MACRO]. If the remote prompts you to delete an existing timer macro, press [OK] to confirm or [NG] to cancel. Next, navigate the remote and enter up to 32 commands from any of the remote’s devices. When finished, press [COMMANDER OFF] to save. The remote will play your macro back visually. To add a manual delay between steps press the [TIMER] button. This counts as one step. To test a timer’s macro, press the [TEST] button. To change the days the timer will run, press [SETUP] followed by [DAY]. Use the [UP] and [DOWN] arrow buttons to change the active days. Save your changes by pressing [ENTER]. To change the time when timer will run, press [SETUP] followed by [TIME]. Use the [LEFT] and [RIGHT] arrow buttons to choose hour or minute, then press the [UP] and [DOWN] arrow buttons to change the value. Save your changes by pressing [ENTER]. To activate or disable a timer, press the [ON/OFF] button. The top-right of the LCD screen will either show “ON” or “OFF”. To copy the settings from another timer, press the [COPY] button. On the next screen, press [COPY] on the bottom right until the label on the bottom left shows the macro you would like to duplicate the settings from. To finish, press the bottom left LCD square. To record a Component macro as a step, hold the component button for two seconds when selecting it.
