URC has announced two additions to their Total Control lineup of remote controls, including the TRC-1280 hybrid touchscreen/hard buttoned remote, plus the TKP-2000 in-wall touchscreen.

Also introduced is off-site programming, which will allow dealers to program, update or service Total Control systems from nearly anywhere.

URC Adds Two New Total Control Interfaces

Indianapolis – CEDIA EXPO 2011 – Booth 3240 – September 8-10, 2011 – URC, The Pioneer in Control Technology, has introduced two new two-way control devices for URC Total Control whole-house control systems.

The new TRC-1280 wand remote and TKP-2000 in-wall touch screen join the existing TRC-780 wand remote and TKP-100 keypad, along with URC’s new Total Control iPhone/iPad app (see separate release), to comprise a highly versatile lineup of Total Control user interfaces. All leverage the power of a home’s IP network to send commands and receive two-way data.

“When we say Total Control, we mean it,” said Doug Cole, senior vice president and general manager of URC. “We now offer two wand remotes, an in-wall touch screen and keypad, and full functionality on iPhones and iPads as well. Our Total Control dealers and their customers now can mix and match control devices to provide the best fit for every installation.”

The TRC-1280 remote is an Instant-WiFi controller whose 2.8-inch color touch screen displays two-way metadata for URC and select third-party devices. Its vibrating haptic technology confirms button presses. The TRC-1280 includes a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and charger base,

The TKP-2000 in-wall network 3.5-inch touch screen is powered by Ethernet (PoE) and installs in a standard two-gang wall box. In addition to its touch screen, the TKP-2000 features six backlit hard buttons that turn on and off with power. Because it is permanently connected to the home network, the TKP-2000 is always ready with real-time information about the homeowner’s environment. With the press of one button, the user can dim the lights, fire up a favorite iPod playlist from your iPod, set the surround sound system to the correct volume, check surveillance cameras, and much more. TKP-2000 users can also browse cover art, artist and titles from an iPod when used with the URC’s PSX-2 Personal Server or the Total Control SNP-1 Streaming Network Player.

All Total Control user interfaces must connect to URC’s MRX-10 Advanced Network System Controller, through which the devices can be programmed off-premises (in the office, on the road) via the internet.

Pricing and availability of the TRC-1280 and TKP-2000 are TBD.

URC Introduces Total Control Off-Site Programming

Indianapolis – CEDIA EXPO 2011 – Booth 3240 – September 8-10, 2011 – URC, The Pioneer in Control Technology, has announced that all of its Total Control products can now be programmed, updated and serviced off-site via the Internet.

Using URC Off-Site Programming, dealers can troubleshoot and update Total Control devices—even program devices that they may have just physically installed at a home.

Now more than ever, CEDIA pros need to keep costs down and make the most efficient use of their time. URC expects its Off-Site Programming feature will save Total Control dealers significant time and money. In addition, dealers can provide more rapid customer service, creating happier clients.
