Acoustic Research may not be a brand that you traditionally associate with universal remote controls, but they’re no stranger to control products and have a substantial history earned with the Jenson, Recoton and even Terk names. More recently, Audiovox has reserved the Acoustic Research name for their higher end remotes, usually designed in partnership with an outside firm.
As the new exclusive North American licensee of One For All products and Universal Electronics Inc. technology, Audiovox has been eager to release an advanced remote control that could compete directly in a consumer market all but dominated by Logitech. And so when the intriguing new One For All Xsight series was first announced by the European division of UEI, Audiovox quickly secured the rights. The Xsight lineup is comprised of three products: a premium touchscreen hybrid remote, a non-touchscreen color LCD remote, and an optional RF Extender.
Today, I’m very pleased to release our seventieth remote control review, where we’ll be taking an in-depth look at the premium model Xsight Touch and its RF Extender. As usual you’ll find the review packed with photographs and screenshots. Acoustic Research certainly doesn’t shy away from hyperbole when describing the Xsight series, calling it “the easiest, most advanced universal remote on the market.” Does it live up to that billing? Read and find out!
