URC updates non-live-update software...
Own a Home Theater Master or Complete Control branded remote and don’t have access to the “live updateable” PC editing software? Well, consumers who did not purchase their Universal Remote Control Inc. remote through an authorized dealer, or who have otherwise been unable to obtain a software version with Live Update capabilities, will be pleased to hear that the company has updated all of the standalone downloads on their website to the latest version available, including the most recent infrared code database.

For example, the most current version of MX-800 Editor obtainable through Live Update is 1.12.280 with IR database version 1.80 from April 9, 2007, while the new standalone non-updateable software from URC’s website is now version 1.12.282, also with IR database version 1.80. Versions of this software are available for the MX-700, MX-800, MX-850, MX-900, MX-950, MX-3000 and TX-1000. Although these versions continue to omit the Live Update feature, this move does indicate that URC will continue to provide software support for all of their models.

To download a new version for your remote control you’ll first need to register it on this page (even if you have already done so in the past) using the serial number found inside the battery compartment. Afterwards, uninstall the current editor using “Add/Remove Programs” and then run the saved download to install the newer version.

Enjoy!
