Review: | Call me a Harmony defector. After a year of entirely too much time on the Harmony website programming my SST-659, and running back and forth between the computer and my AV system to see if the new coding works, and trying to find the right button amongst the cluttered (and mushy) buttons of the Harmony, it was time to simplify. The Harmony is being relegated to the bedroom TV. The Sony AV2500 is a more-than-capable replacement. Reasonably priced (mine was about $145 U.S.), attractive, with bright (and adjustable) display and clear characters, it looks great and works well. Easy to program, it is especially strong in its learning capabilities, with each learned command taking only a second or two to take place, and no errors. The LCD buttons are very responsive, and you can "hide" buttons that are not used by a particular component....a nice way to simplify the display. The volume and channel buttons are logically placed to be right under your thumb when holding the remote....and the MUTE button is right under the VOLUME....perfect for zapping the audio in commercials. All in all, a very nice remote, with plenty of capability, memory, a good manual, and you don't need the Internet to make it functional! |
