Strengths:-it is so Automated it does everything for you
Weaknesses:-the lack of personal control because of the Automated features
Review:I took this remote back after 2 days, I got it because a sony remote I have (Sony RM-VL1000) just stopped working one day :( this remote would shut off my set top box after I set it up not to and switching between functions was a big pain....... I expect better from Logitech.

Strengths:Total control. Easy to program.
Weaknesses:Buttons are a little on the small side.
Review:We've been using this for a little over a month now. It has totally replaced all the remotes for my HT setup. Setup was easy and making adjustments is just as easy. This is the first universal remote that I am totally happy with. The activity macros have made things so much simpler for the rest of the family.

Strengths:Fairly easy programmabilty. Support from Logitech.
Weaknesses:Buttons too small. Weak back-lighting. Have to press very hard on buttons to make some work. Poor placement of backlight button.
Review:I bought one of these for my wife. It is a disaster principally because of the very poor response of the buttons. You have to press very hard to make some work. Logitech support said that the button circuit board may be misaligned and to jiggle the keys to try to get it to set. No luck. This thing is about 15% too small and the buttons are hard to use because of size. Placement of backlight button is extremely poor. My other remote is a Marantz RC2000 MkII and vastly superior in ease of use. At the $150 Best Buy sells it for, it is a poor value.

Strengths:Easy set up, one button solution to multiple steps, Activities buttons, help menu that walks you through any problems.
Weaknesses:Sometimes a little slow turning every thing on, but hey it is turning on a complete home theater at one time so why complain.
Review:I have done just as every one else has on here researching remotes to try and get that great fix all remote, and here I am with the Harmony 659. I haven't had it long, but I can say with out a doubt it does exactly as I hoped it would from all the research. The fact that I didn't have to set up macros was great, not that they are hard, but another task just the same. I have read reviews were people complain about the set up or the web site use, I found absolutly no problem with either one. It took me longer to get all the model numbers from my equipment than it did to set up the remote. I'm currently playing with set up features to try and cutomize some of the buttons for ease of use on devices, just to see how much control I actually have, and I have been very impressed. Hope to integrade some lighting controls and room devices, shouldn't be a problem with all the help available in the forums from Remote Central. Like to say thanks to all you guys for answering any and all questions I had and have even as dumb as some of them may be. For the price this in my opinion has to be the best and easiest to use remote on the market.

Strengths:Fits well in hand.
Only one hand needed to operate it.
Buttons react instantly when pressed.
Good backlighting for LCD screen and illuminated buttons.
Knows codes for EVERY device imaginable.
Programming setup is straight forward.

Weaknesses:For those with no patience who want a remote to function perfectly right out of the box, the setup process may seem too tedious.
Review:This remote is as close to the perfect remote as I've ever come. Sure, there may be one or two very minor things I'd change but they are so insignificant that I won't mention them. I was somewhat disappointed after the initial setup in that the remote did not perform flawlessly. I reconnected it to my computer and tweaked it here and there using the Harmony website's troubleshooting tools which took time and PATIENCE. The flaws in performance were corrected, my disappointment vanished, and I now have an awesome remote that DOES perform flawlessly.
That's a hint to those out there that buy, play with it for an hour, and then return to the store for a refund.
With this remote, patience is rewarded.

Strengths:This remote is the easiest to program of any I've tried. It is done over a website through a supplied USB cable. It fits well in your hand. It has great, free, live person, tech support.
Weaknesses:A little pricey, but then it operates components other pricey ones couldn't.
Review:I've tried many remotes, including the Kameleon and the Sony Commander, in an effort to get down to one remote to control all the components . None could correctly operate my Yamaha AV, except the Harmony. It is by far the easiest to program. You go to their website, list your components, plug the remote into a USB port and let the website program. Initially it had the same problem with my AV as the other remotes. I couldn't fix it on-line and so called tech support. They courteously and professionally had it programmed in minutes. It is rare these days to have live-support with no waiting availabe to back up a product. My hats off to Logitech.
