Strengths:
"My review is for the ZEN777. It only lacks a LCD screen compared to the 780."
1)Learns all keys without running out memory.
Weaknesses:
1)Battery cover fits very loose, rattling constantly while in use. 2)Remote is very slippery and hard to hold. 3)Remote is extremely hard to teach original remote codes to. 70% of the time, it does not learn code. 4)This is the only remote I have ever tried that could not duplicate the vital keys of my Dish Network Satellite receiver. The preprogrammed code does not even include the most used, GUIDE key. This and other vitally important functions must be learned, which this remote is difficult at. 5)Remote does not offer a sleep key. This nearly makes this remote unuseable for bedroom theater system, which it is intended for. 6)Not enough keys. This remote is almost as bad as Sony's remote, in not having enough keys for the vital functions of the component. 7)Key labeling is either nonexistant or has uncommon symbols. The keys that were needed for my satellite receiver had labels of A,B,C, or CC(closed Caption). I know of no one who has every used close caption, so a label of info, guide, select, etc, would definitely been much better. Labels of A,B,C make no sense, and were better left blank. 8)NO MACROS!!!!!
Review:
Well as you can read above, I found that the learning capability(when it worked)was the only strength that this remote had. That was even flawed. It had an extremely hard time learning most of my component codes. It needed at least 3 tries before learning the codes, or maybe not learning them ever.
The fact that this remote lacked a sleep timer and/or a learnable button labeled sleep, plus the ommision of macro capability, made this remote not competive to most remotes on the market.
Even with it's large memory capability, I found that this remote has to many flaws to be useable. For that reason, I don't recommend this remote to users who have moderate needs.
