Strengths:
Sleek design Comfortable to hold Easy to program Learning function easy to use Nice back lighting
Weaknesses:
Only three macros No volume punch through LCD only viewable from an angle but not a big issue Not every button can be learned to (ie volume buttons, sleep, etc.) Transport buttons way too low
Review:
I purchased this remote when my wife and I moved in together because she did not like having 7 remotes lying around the living room. Now for $50, this remote is worth every penny. While I did all the setup as far as programming was concerned, my wife had to be able to understand how to use it. I am happy to say that she is very comfortable using it to handle my entire home theater (Digital cable, TV, CD, Tape deck, VCR, DVD, and Receiver.) She could easily turn on and off any of these components. I was able to put all 7 of my other remotes away and use this exclusively.
The only thing that really bothered me was the fact that you could not punch through the volume controls. I don’t use my TV’s volume at all so the only way to hear anything is through the receiver (which is how everyone should have their system setup imho.) Switching to AUD then controlling volume then switching back to whatever component I was using gets pretty tedious after a while. I tried learning my receiver’s volume buttons to the volume buttons on the remote, but it wouldn’t work. The macros were great, but I would have liked more. Like I said, for $50 this remote will replace all of your other remotes, you just have to get used to the little things like switching to AUD when you want to increase volume and such.

Strengths:
This is the best remote I've owned! It rocks.
Weaknesses:
Have to press TV to change TV volume/channels, and then press SAT to change satellite channels, but everytime I press TV/SAT/VCR1/VCR2 or any other, it turns that unit off....
Review:
If anybody knows how to make the remote not turn of the unit by just pressing it's main button please let me know. I never have to use the ON/OFF button, cause by just pressing the TV button makes it come on and off.. Please email me and let me know what I could do. Thanks. my email is hgd0302@hotmail.com

Strengths:
Easy to setup, easy to use, backlight that is controllable, right price, vast number of code sets, IR Learning mode, layout of keys. It's great!
Weaknesses:
MAJOR FLAW: Time resets to 12:00 / Mode resets to TV mode constantly causes it to be a pain to use. SEE BELOW FOR A FIX!!!
Review:
After submitting a previoius review on this site(re: November 5, 2002)in which I was complaining of this 'MAJOR FLAW' that so many others have reported on this site, I think I have stumbled on a solution. Let the batteries die completely. I mean keep using it until it won't function at all (not just when it give you the low battery warning). Then, replace the batteries. Like I say I've tried just about everything before stumbling on to this fix. At least it worked for me. If this works for you (or even if it doesn't) please respond with your own 'review'. I'd like to know if this 'fix' works consistently.

Small memory
Review:
I've owned this remote (the 810B) for 1 week and it is a great remote. It controls my Motorola cable box (one of the main reasons I bought it), and allows me to get rid of all my other remotes. I use it to control an RCA TV, RCA DVD, RCA surround sound receiver, Samsaung VCR,and a GE TV and Magnavox VCR in another room. (Although the Magnavox is controlled with a Carver code) I did have the clock resetting problem (where it goes into TV mode, and the clock sets to 12 am) but that lasted for a day. It's been perfect ever since. The only problem with the unit is the small amount of memory. My suggestion would be to make sure you really need the keys you're trying to learn, and make sure they're not somewhere else on the keypad. (Example: I learned the "Last" key from my cable box remote not realizing that it was the "Go Back" key on the 810. For $50 this remote rocks! For $70 it would still rock.

Strengths:
Easy to set up after you figure out the manual. Must be translated from French by a German into English. Makes no sense. Oh, sorry, I'm supposed to list strengths here. The blue light is cool and it fits your hand nicely. The tactile feel buttons are much better than touch screen varities.
Weaknesses:
MAJOR FLAW: Time resets to 12:00 / Mode resets to TV mode constantly causes it to be a pain to use.
Review:
Am I the only owner of this remote with this problem? I've exchanged 3 at Best Buy so far. Every one works great. For about an hour, then for no reason that I can determine, the clock switches to 12:00 o'clock and it is in TV mode. Most annoying when I'm flipping channels on my cable box with the remote and all of a sudden the input switches on my TV because the remote is now functioning in TV mode. I've followed the reset procedure more than I care to, and have replaced with new batteries 3 times. All three remotes have had the same problem.
Best Buy won't exchange it any longer because my 90 day warranty is up. RCA says to mail it to them at my expense and expect 6 weeks for a refurbished model to be mailed back to me. Do I want to try a fourth? Don't know.

I took advantage of the radioshack $20 off sale, which just ended, and bought this remote. It was actually listed on the radioshack website as the RCU805, the 810's smaller, less advanced brother. When it shipped, I opened the box and found an 810 inside!!! This remote was an absolute steal at $59.99 canadian dollars!!
Anyways, I love this remote so far. It worked near flawlessly with the pre-programmed codes for:
Bell Expressvu dss receiver Panasonic superflat (gaoo) tv Yamaha dvd player Yamaha cd player
I also have a denon 2802 ht receiver. I was unable to make this work using the denon receiver codes, but it did work with the denon amp code.
This code provided VERY limited functionality. The only features that were labelled correctly were the on/off button and volume control.
I figured I would try and manually learn the denon features from its oem remote. What a snap! So easy to do, and I now have the 810 programmed with every feature that I use from the oem denon remote!! (about 16 buttons).
I then went and manually learned the denon's volume to the volume controls onto the SAT, DVD and CD devices of the 810.
I don't know how people are running out of memory, because I haven't run out yet and have programmed over 20 buttons.
I also made some macros which work wonderfully.
I have to give this great remote 2 thumbs up (especially at $60 canadian!).
