Review: | First, the H900 is dead and retired now thanks to corrupt firmware. After my H720(which did everything the way I wanted) was fatally injured in a violent exchange with a person of the preschool persuasion, the search was on for a replacement. The H900 had a better price than the 1000 and more features(I now know I don't use) than the One. Mine was not new in box retail. It is used to control A/V receiver, BluRay, VCR(which curiously never gets used anymore), TV, Bell Expressvu PVR, and DVD. The dock is better than that for the 720 and unlike the former, the contacts ALWAYS make their mark and charge the battery. Programming with the Logitec software is the same easy procedure as with the 720, but it makes you open a new account for the 900. Once programmed it does what it should, the way the 720 did. pressing "watch satellite" on the touchscreen sends it into a symphony of silent commands duly obeyed in order by the devices in question. The technophobes young and old here can operate it like pros, in stark contrast to their struggles with the old universals we once sported. Just about every hard button is better placed, sized and textured than on the 720. The touch screen is heavenly. While in an activity, the screen can be in a mode with some soft buttons for commands specific to that activity, that I chose and put on there myself. This is a few steps more user friendly than the 720. Because of the lack of sequences, I need to press "menu" and manually navigate through the PVR's menu pages to find the search function. If I can get that button on the command screen, I haven't found out how. Otherwise it is a very good remote for what I do. Very good except for the fact that this remote no longer works. I've learned the H900 has among other glitches corrupt firmware. Taking the battery out for a minute "fixes" it and it works for a few minutes or an hour. One trick is to go into safe mode and take it to the software and reapply the firmware, but this only works for some of them. For me it helps the 900 to go one day without dying, instead of one hour. Talking to someone who repairs them(by the way, contrary to Logitec's claim, they ARE openable and serviceable) showed me my better choice would have been the Harmony One, which compared to the H900 lacks just the RF function which I don't need, and also lacks any sort of glitches. I'm told the One also has a more stable OS and operates much quicker. Not counting the firmware problem the quality is above average but my ratings reflect that glitch.
