The middle of nowhere... Yahoo!
Interested in getting away from it all... but not without your net connection? Well, Timex just may have the answer for you. Their new Internet Messenger Watch can be used to receive email, news, weather reports, sports scores, stock quotes and more - any time, any place. Scheduling content for your watch is easy - for instance Yahoo's mobile alerts can be used to send breaking headlines, inform you of the local weather or just keep up-to-date on a stock's value. The watch has the capability to receive and store up to 16 internet email, numeric or word messages. For viewing you can choose both the speed and direction of messages as they scroll, and can also select from silent vibrating or musical chime notification.
Timex's new watch is actually 28% smaller than its predecessor, the Beepwear Pager watch, making it less of an albatross on your wrist. Other watch-like functions include Indiglo night light, 100-hour chronograph, lap counter and memory, countdown timer, 5 alarms, dual time zones and more. But simply buying the watch won't be the last of your expenses for this wireless nirvana. You'll still have to pay for beeper service, which will run at $9.99 per moth for 500 word messages with up to 100 characters each from SkyTel. So, at roughly 2 cents per message, you may end up deciding that you don't really need to know the exact instant the latest rainstorm will hit. The watch will be available in April and will be priced at $99.
