LCD projectors & rear-projection HDTVs
Building on their existing line of popular LCD projectors, Sharp has announced a new compact model for release in March. The XV-Z7000U features a newly developed p-Si 0.9" TFT LCD displays and delivers 1,000 ANSI lumens of brightness for screen sizes from 25" to 300". The XV-Z7000U includes compatibility with HDTV 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i formats through RGB or dual component inputs. It also offers a 300:1 contrast ratio for crisp, clear images. The model's special "Theater Mode" can be used to enhance picture quality, produce deeper blacks and richer colors in low light environments, all while saving bulb life. Owners can fine-tune their setup with 4-position gamma and color temperature settings. This is also sharp's quietest projector with less than 36dB of fan noise. Additional features include manual zoom, RS-232C input and 1500 hour bulb (2000 hours in theater mode). The XV-Z7000 is expected to sell for $5,499.
Along the same vein, Sharp's new 61RWP5H and 55RWP5H rear-projection widescreen LCD HDTV monitors feature 61" and 55" screens (respectively). Both models are compatible with all HDTV signals up to full 1080i resolution (thanks to dual component inputs) and use Sharp's proprietary circuitry to upconvert analog signals to full 1080i resolution. Other features include a 10-bit 3D-Y/C comb filter, dual NTSC tuners for picture-beside-picture viewing, 4-way Q-Surround speaker system with 24 watts of power, plus multiple 4:3 viewing options. The 61" model is available now for $4,999, while the 55" model sells for $4,499. An alternate model available in March for $4,4999, the 55RWP4H, is identical except for a different speaker design and the inclusion of an RGB input.
