New HDTV devices
The new HDT-2000 HDTV receiver and scaler supports all 18 ATSC formats, as well as VHF/UHF/CTV NTSC standards. Standard NTSC signals from sources such as DVD players, VCRs, DSS receivers or cables are scaled to 1080i for high definition displays. Inputs include S-Video, composite and two RF connectors. Signals are output as 1080i via component or RGB video. Audio from the ATSC signal is output via 6 RCA jacks or can be downmixed to stereo. The HDT-2000 includes on-screen display, RS232 serial communications, plus a full remote control. It has a suggested price of $899 and is now shipping.
Princeton's new PSC-1500 is a progressive scan converter that will convert regular interlaced NTSC images - such as those from cable, DVD or satellite - to 480 progressive. The PSC-1500, which creates a better image than many line doublers/scalers costing thousands of dollars, upgrades the PSC-1000 by adding a horizontal squeeze function for viewing 4:3 material on a 16:9 display. The PSC-1500 converts signals for output in RGBHV or component video and costs $749, with availability now.
