Toshiba  New DVD Players Two new 5-disc changers are being introduced this year. The SD4205 and SD3205 both offer compatibility with VCD and CD-R content. All models feature a 10-bit 27MHz video D/A converter, Dolby Digital & DTS compatibility, HDCD processing, black level expansion and component output. The SD4205 also includes on-board DTS decoding. Two new progressive models, the SD9200 and SD6200, feature Super ColorStream Pro progressive scan component output that utilizes a 4X oversampling of the "Y" component signal and 8X of the "Pr" and "Pb" signals. Both include a 27-bit 54MHz video DAC to virtually eliminate image artifacts. The SD9200 includes Toshiba’s 3D-DNR video noise reduction system, which utilizes Frame Correlative technology to reduce random occurring noise without sacrificing image resolution. It is equipped with a new Multi-Bit Delta-Sigma audio converter designed to deliver the highest sound quality possible with ultra-low distortion and a dynamic range of 117dB. Also, the SD9200 will be compatible with future two and multi-channel DVD-Audio software via on-board 24-bit 192kHz D/A converters and six analog audio outputs. The SD9200, SD6200 and SD4205 include a "Virtual Remote" key that, when pressed, overlays an on-screen remote control on the video image and allows users to make their selection using the remote’s 8-way compass cursor. Another first included on these three top-end players is a "Picture Strobe Viewer" that allows the users to display and arrange a series of action images in successive order by selecting the number of pictures desired and varying the time between each image. Three other new models, the SD6109C, SD5109 and SD4200 include many of the above functions as well as front-panel operation of player and disc functions. New SVHS-ET VCR Lineup Toshiba is introducing it’s first 6-head VCRs with SVHS-ET technology that allows SVHS recording quality on regular VHS tapes. The two new models, the W804 and W808, each include Toshiba’s V3 chassis and flying pre-amp design, satellite TV recording control, icon-based on-screen programming as well as VCR Plus+C3 programming. The W808 also includes Toshiba’s DNR Perfect imaging enhancing circuitry for the highest quality image possible. The new models will be available this spring.
