Harman/Kardon Quartet of new receivers Harman/Kardon announced four new audio/video receivers at this year's show: the AVR-120, AVR-220, AVR-320 and AVR-520. Starting off with the most economical, the $449 AVR-120 features 40 watts of power into five channels (50 watts in stereo), Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital, DTS 5.1, Logic 7 and VMAx decoding, MP3 decoding, 192/24-bit audio capabilities, front panel digital input and S-Video switching. A "Listener Preference" system allows the user to configure speaker channel level settings for each program source and DSP format. The $540 AVR-220 adds 45 watts power handling (55 watts in stereo), 6-channel analog input, various DSP modes, on-screen display, plus Harman/Kardon's 6-device preprogrammed EzSet remote control, which is used to automatically calibrate speaker levels. The $799 AVR-320 adds 6.1-channel DTS-ES Discrete, DTS-ES Matrix, DTS Neo:6, HDCD and Logic 7/7.1 decoding, two HDTV-compatible component video inputs, 8-channel direct inputs for DVD Audio or SACD players, 7.1 preamp outputs and 55 watts of power into each of 5 channels (65 watts in Stereo). In addition to an 8-device learning remote and multiroom capabilities, the AVR-320 also features unique front panel jacks that can be configured as either inputs or outputs. Finally, the new $999 AVR-520 ups power handling to 75 watts per channel in home theater mode (or 85 watts in stereo), adds a backlit learning remote, plus several audio quality enhancement and multiroom features.
